What Does It Mean When the Doctor Says "Your Thyroid Is High"??? Please Help?
I have Gynecomastia, it is not that prominent visibly, but it sometimes gives me a sore chest.
My insurance told me that I needed bloodwork to check my thyroid and testosterone level, and then they would see about approving the surgery to get rid of my gynecomastia.
The receptionist called back and said my "thyroid was high", whatever that means, and also that I had low testosterone.
Can someone please explain what "thyroid is high" means? is this ok or is this bad? please help
Thyroid being high would be that the hormone levels being secreted by your thyroid gland are higher than usual, meaning you have an acute case of hyperthyroidism. to what degree this is, and if you require treatment can only be determined by your doctor, as he has the test results.
Higher thyroid levels are not good but not really bad either since it is a very treatable condition and it can be caused by many things (Diet, genetics, etc) Generally, people with hyperthyroidism have a higher metabolic rate meaning they burn energy quicker. There are other acute symptoms as well.
I’m sure your doctor will follow up with you, but I can assure you it is a very treatable condition, and I doubt your levels are too high considering it has not had noticeable symptoms for you.
Good luck!
your thyroid is over active. It has a part with your metabolism. Low thyroid means its under active and slow (which can cause you to gain weight easily even become over weight in some cases yours is high so its over active which can lead to being under weight in some cases.
