I’ll Take Manhattan (30)
“Manhattan” does “Dynasty’s” trademark 80s Gay TV-Hug. Justin (Adam Storke) is unaware that the male model he is attracted to was hired by Cutter (his actual father) to cause trouble.

a hug? lol I guess back in the 80s two gay men kissing was a no no on television.
The first gay kiss could be seen on The WB’s “Dawson’s Creek” in 2001 (Darren Starr tried to do it on “Melrose Place” in 1994, but FOX nixed it). “Manhattan” aired in 1987, so yes – it was a no no at the time. I still think they could have suggested it and then cut to black. The hug is just plain silly.
Correction: first gay male kiss. The first lesbian kiss was on “Roseanne” in 1994.
thank god for “Dante’s Cove”
I agree that hug was awkward and premature. Yes, they had to take baby steps and the same went for inter-racial relationships back when Diahann Carrol appeared on Dynasty. Correct me if I’m wrong but I don;t think Blake ever hugged Dominique.
Haaaaa! Every other scene is awkward as hell. This attempt at a gay love affair tops the cake though.
that male model is paul from young & the restless lol :p this was definitely an interesting ensemble cast.
good 80s made-for TV movie; been a long time since i’ve seen this
i heard he played the musician “larry underwood” in “The Stand.” did he play the role to the hilt? i’ve never seen him in a picture before, and wonder how well he would have played the arrogant, self-centered musician in “the Stand.”
The end of this scene is totally UNREALISTIC: normally they would have kissed each other bitting each other’s lips when they were so attracted to each other, but instead they fall into each other’s arms like old friends or partners that become reconcealed after an argument.
doesn’t adam storke look like young Tom Hanks. The first time i saw him in The Stand, i really thought he was young Tom Hanks.
cuter..( loves women) with a Gay so…how ironic.
Poor Justin.

Yup it’s definitely Doug Davidson who plays Paul on the Y&R!
