I Need Help!!! Has This Happened to Anyone About a Surgery?
Okk well im 16 and im having surgery for gynecomastia (male breast reduction) and I found out I need to have general anesthesia. This is my first surgery being performed on me. I am very nervous and I feel like im not going to wake up or that im going to die. I even started crying because I can’t handle it. Everytime I think positive, negative things keep popping into my head. Has this happen to anyone?

General Anesthesia is no biggie. I’ve had a lot of major surgeries and have had to go under for every one. You’ll wake up!
And remember, you’re in the safest place for a medical emergency surrounded by doctors even if anything goes the SLIGHTEST bit wrong. So you’ll be fine.
its perfectly normal to think like that.
i had general anaesthetic in january to remove my salivary gland as it had lots of stones attached to it.
i was worried becuase the of anyone being able to do anything to me whilst i was under.
when you get worried just think to your self how good the end results gonna be after the operation. plus the fact that loads of people a year have gynecomastia surgery a year and are perfectly fine.
all the best

i’ve had general at least a half dozen times and actually enjoyed it. speak to your surgeon and anesthesiologist prior and they can put your fears to rest.
I was really nervous before my surgery i think everyone is. When i had surgery i had to get general anesthesia too. You don’t even realize when your falling asleep because one minute the nurses are talking to you and then next your already past out. You will wake up really drowsy but that’s normal. If you have any concerns ask your doctor so you can feel more relaxed.
Thats totally normal.
Last year I had to have surgery and since it was my first time, I got really nervous, only thinking of the negative.
But everything turned out to be completely fine, it is extremely rare for people not to wake up from anesthesia, I’ve never even heard of it happening. You are going to be fine, trust me. It’ll take about a few seconds to fall asleep and next thing you know, you’ll be in the recovery room wondering where you are! It’s actually kinda cool. So don’t worry
You are just nervous and scared. There is nothing to worry about. Don’t eat or drink anything before the surgery which they have probably told you already. You will go into the hospital, they will come in and give you a gown, and then the anethesiologist will come in and ask you a bunch of questions to determine what type of medicine they are going to give you. Then they next thing you know they will give you the medicine probably through an IV and you won’t feel or remember a thing. You will wake up when they are done and they will take you to a recovery room where nurses will watch you.
Don’t be scared it will all be okay. The nurses in the hospital take very good care of you.
