gynecomastia_failed_revision_crater_ny_surgeon_standard_video.mov

Here are the standard views demonstrating the complication of failed gynecomastia revision surgery performed by a New York Plastic Surgeon. The extent of the deformity, just how badly tissues moves are well demonstrated by video and well hidden by still pictures. When too much fat is removed and the skin sticks to the underlying muscle, the deformity during normal activities becomes a constant emotional burden. I never operated on this patient. He had one surgery done in New Jersey, and his revision in NY. I saw the patient after each operation when he returned for my help. I was not able to offer any revision the second time, all of the resources that were there after the first surgery were destroyed by the second surgeon.

In comparison to gyno I’d take that!!

  2. DrBermant says:

@BigQuads but why settle for a deformity like that instead of a refined sculpture that also moves well like you can see on the many examples of my website on gynecomastia. Getting rid of the gyno is a good goal, but the result should also move well. It is not enough to look good for a still photo. It is so much better to also look good in real life.

ok..my question is…did this new doctor FIX it… is that even possible

  4. DrBermant says:

@JohnyVain you can read more about this individual on my site, the video by itself only is part of the story. The patient came to me after problems from a NJ surgeon. There were revision options. The patient then had revision surgery in NY. The revision options were destroyed by the NY surgeon. Results look bad. This is the problem when such doctors only use one or 2 still photos to document their results. That is the purpose of the web page demonstrating the issue of incomplete photo evaluation

  5. DrBermant says:

@JohnyVain no, not with current technology.

  6. sdg954 says:

It looks to me like he has no muscle in the lower portion of his chest. Would it be possible for him to gain some fat and then reconstruct from there?

  7. DrBermant says:

@sdg954 muscle is there. When all the fat cells are severely depleted from a region as in this example, fat gained will go where the remaining fat cells are. If the defect of missing fat is too wide, fat with a blood supply will not reach the entire defect. Fat moved as grafts tends to mostly die turning into firm fibrous tissue just like gland and also does not look good on animation. Until a very wide zone of fat can be created in the defect that moves like fat, no fix today.

is it possible that his defect will improve with time?
some patients heals uptil 3-4 years after surgery

  9. DrBermant says:

@funkyguyxxx scars can improve over time to a degree. Unfortunately, it is unlikely these will resolve much. Documentation is the best way to demonstrate if they get better or not. According to the patient, the surgeon felt that there was nothing wrong with the chest as it looked with that flexing deformity. However, there is an emotional component. Having a patient come back just to get videos long term is an inconvenience to the patient.
