Gynecomastia Surgery for a 16 Year Old?
I’ve had gynecomastia since before puberty i think. I’m 16 and tired of getting conscious taking off my clothes. I really want this surgery. I know i’m still in puberty but this has been with me like more than 3 years. I haven’t consulted my parents yet, but i think they notice because they are both doctors. Is it advicable for me take surgery? Will the post surgery heal for a month?

Alright, the person above is most likely wrong. Your gynecomastia hasn’t gone away yet, so most likely, it wont. I was stuck with mine until 19 and I only rid myself of it because I took something; I wont tell you what I took because your parents would be upset if you asked for a prescription for it.
You should wait until you are ATLEAST 18. If you want your insurance to cover your surgery you need to be 18 and there is no point in getting surgery if your just going to have a chance to get it back because you are not done with puberty. Once you get done with puberty then consult your parents; who knows, you could get lucky, but the chances are slim.
Yes, the post surgery is about a month.
Good luck with your pain, don’t let it change your life.
Most sources are saying that for gynecomastia with teenagers in particular – the issue tends to resolve itself within a few years, requiring no medical treatment. So it might be your best bet to take a wait and see approach.
With any surgery, there are risks involved. I suggest that yu really look into the risks and then have a discussion with your parents to discuss. I post a link below which talks about the surgery.
